Working as an Approved Panel Contractor for one of the UK’s most experienced Insurer recommended Insurance Surveying specialists who have a particular focus on High Net Worth and Major and Complex Loss cases, we were instructed to carry out repairs to this period property following a devastating fire. The fire caused extensive damage to the fabric of the building including the roof structure, electrical installation and decorative period features such as bespoke timber joinery finishes and ornamental plaster work.
We undertook a detailed strip out programme to enable samples and mouldings to be taken of specialist timber finishes and ornamental plaster details to enable an exact like for like reinstatement to be completed to return this period property back to pre-loss condition.
We utilised a cleaning technique known as Sodablasting, a non-destructive method of cleaning to remove soot deposits from the sandstone façade and remaining decorative timbers to avoid damage from harmful chemicals or abrasive cleaning techniques.
As well as reinstating bespoke joinery finishes to the decorative overhanging eaves roof detail we replaced sections of fire damaged timbers, repaired areas of damaged roof covering and carried out a comprehensive internal reinstatement project which included fully rewiring the property, reinstatement of bathrooms, replacement of period sash and case timber windows and high end decorative finishes throughout.
We recognised the importance to maintain as many period features as we could, replicating these where possible on an exact like for like basis to ensure that the customer not only got their home back but they got back the period property they had prior to the most unfortunate circumstances.
